Gujarat, which was known for its textile and dairy products, is rapidly transforming itself into a new-age destination for cutting-edge industries such as semiconductors, green hydrogen, fintech, aerospace, and advanced materials. With a Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of around ₹29.82 trillion, it remains one of the country’s most robust economic engines, accounting for ~26.6% of the country’s total exports and ~18% of the country’s manufacturing sector. Gujarat has also attracted ~₹4.08 lakh crore of FDI (2019-2025), symbolizing strong investor confidence in the state’s policies and strong governance. The state is eyeing leadership positions in semiconductors, green hydrogen, fintech, aerospace, and advanced materials, with Dholera being a major hub for semiconductor manufacturing. Gujarat plans to corner a major share of the country’s semiconductor production in the years to come.

Gujarat, which has strong roots in petrochemicals, autos, and textiles, is rapidly moving towards strategic and high-tech sectors. One such area is the rapid development of GIFT City, which is making Gujarat a financial services destination in the world. With a single regulatory system and increasing engagement with global institutions, GIFT City is steadily opening the door to global finance in India.

The Vision Document showcases Gujarat’s leadership in the area of renewable energy, boasting over 42 GW of installed capacity and a strong commitment to sustainable and low-carbon development. It also showcases an investor-friendly environment and the shift towards “Ease of Doing Business 2.0,” emphasizing simplified regulations, digitalization, and rapid project approvals.

Speaking on the occasion, a spokesperson from ASSOCHAM said, “The Vision Document embodies a futuristic partnership model that connects policy and industry, facilitating scalable growth and global competitiveness. The partnership seeks to develop sector-specific interventions, enhance infrastructure and skilling ecosystems, and promote innovation-driven growth.”

The Vision Document also emphasizes Gujarat’s strengths in agriculture and blue economy, driven by technology adoption, strong cooperative structures, and value chain integration to ensure inclusive and balanced growth across sectors.

As India marches towards becoming a global economic leader, Gujarat’s shift from a traditional industrial base to a high-tech manufacturing and services sector puts it at the vanguard of this journey. The ASSOCHAM-Government of Gujarat partnership seeks to give this momentum a further boost by enabling businesses to seamlessly integrate with Gujarat’s vibrant growth ecosystem.
